MATERIAL ANALYTICAL LABORATORY SERVICES

Materialize Your Vision

Your vision is the starting point—let us help you materialize it. At MATSYS, we’re more than just an analytical laboratory—we’re where ideas are born, nurtured, and brought to life. Our state-of-the-art tools and dedicated team of experts catalyze change, turning challenges into solutions and vision into tangible innovations.

Our mastery in materials synthesis and characterization lies at the core of our capabilities. Whether it’s powders, metals, polymers, composites, or even porous materials, we have the expertise and technology to transform material concepts into reality.

MATERIALS SYNTHESIS

Our in-house material synthesis capabilities elevate us beyond the confines of a conventional analytical laboratory. Combined with our advanced machine shop and characterization laboratory, those synthesis capabilities empower us to rapidly develop and optimize materials synthesis.

  • Our expertise in mechanical alloying allows us to create novel materials with precise control over composition and microstructure. We also have the ability to operate at cryogenic and ultra-low milling temperatures, meaning we can handle even the most challenging materials concepts.

  • We utilize HIP/CIP techniques to turn powder into parts. Our unique instrumented HIP (i-HIP) provides valuable data during the consolidation process, allowing us to monitor the consolidation process as it happens and ensure parts are to precise specifications.

  • We can employ laboratory-scale heat treatment, including quenching, to create tailored material samples that meet your specific needs.

MATERIALS CHARACTERIZATION

As a materials analytical laboratory, one of our core services is characterization. We have cutting-edge characterization capabilities that facilitate understanding the specifications and capabilities of novel materials.

Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM)

Our advanced Scanning Electron Microscopy (SEM) shows the profound details of your materials on a microscopic level.

Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS)

Our Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (EDS) technology gives a deep dive into a material’s elemental composition.

Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD)

Our Electron Backscatter Diffraction (EBSD) unlocks the mysteries of material’s grain structure and orientation, painting a complete picture of it.

XRD

Our X-ray Diffraction (XRD) capabilities allow us to study a material’s crystalline structures all the way down to the atoms.

Thermal Analysis: DSC/TGA, Vertical Dilatometry, Bomb Calorimetry, and LFA

Understand your novel material’s response to temperature with our thermal analysis services.

  • Chart the thermal journeys of materials, exploring their responses, behaviors, and transitions with differential scanning calorimetry and thermogravimetric analysis (DSC/TGA).

  • Accurately measure temperature-induced material expansion and contractions with our vertical dilatometer.

  • Understand your material’s thermal diffusivity, conductivity, and specific heat with Laser Flash Analysis (LFA).

  • Precisely determine the heat of combustion and calorific values, as well as capture pressure changes with our advanced bomb calorimeter, an essential component of the comprehensive energy content assessment and fuel potential studies of diverse materials.

Particle Morphology: PSA and BET

Uncover the nuances of your material’s surface area and particle size distribution with our Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) and Particle Size Analysis (PSA) capabilities.

Mechanical Analysis: Tension/Compression and Hardness Testing

Evaluate material resilience and performance under stress with our top-tier compression and tension testing services.

  • Measure your material’s resistance to localized plastic deformation with our precision Vicker’s hardness tester. Our trusted Rockwell hardness capability allows us to evaluate bulk hardness.

  • Utilize ultrasonic techniques, a non-destructive testing (NDT) method for determining intrinsic properties and understanding material behavior, to accurately measure the sound velocities of materials.

Density Measurements: Helium Pycnometry and Archimedes Method

Our state-of-the-art density measurement capabilities can help you accurately determine the density of your materials.

  • Employ our Helium Pycnometer for precise density measurements, offering rapid, accurate, and non-destructive insights into materials’ actual volume and density.

  • Trust in the timeless Archimedes principle with our scale method, delivering reliable bulk density evaluations for a wide range of materials.
