MATSYS has developed a unique buoyancy sensor to measure the densification of compact during Cold Isostatic Pressing (CIP) and Warm Isosatic Pressing (WIP).
The buoyancy sensor is mounted inside the pressure vessel and the powder compact is suspended from the sensor. The sensor is used to measure the change in buoyancy in real-time as the pressure is applied, and to identify the maximum pressure at which maximum densification is achieved.
Specifications
- Maximum operating temperature is 350°F
- Maximum operating pressure is 414 MPa (60,000 psi)
- Pressure vessel holds specimens up to 6 inches in diameter and 12 inches in length

HiTECS can also be used to measure the electrical conductivity and purity of a molten metal as a function of temperature, and to characterize the fatigue life/residual strain within a specimen as a function of temperature under various loading conditions.
